FRANKLIN GEM AND MINERAL MUSEUM
This museums displays gem stones from not just North Carolina, but from all over the world. It even boasts a dinosaur egg. The Museum building is located in the historic 1850s jail in downtown Franklin, and of course, includes a gift shop.

MACON COUNTY HISTORICAL MUSEUM
Macon County Historical Society operates the Macon County Historical Museum, which is located in one of the oldest buildings still standing in Franklin, the Pendergrass Building. The Memory Lane Garden is now located in the former alleyway next door. The Museum is where local history is being collected, preserved, and interpreted. Our own President Bob is their President too!

MACON COUNTY ENVIRONMENTAL RESOURCE CENTER
The Environmental Resource Center (ERC) supports the development of environmental programs in Macon County. There is also a horticultural demonstration garden nurtured by Master Gardeners. Native and landscape plants that are useful in Western NC are being planted and labeled with their common and botanical names. Our very busy President Bob is also a Master Gardner who volunteers at the ERC and has mowed the lawns there for the past seven years!
WHITEWATER RAFTING, ZIP LINE TOURS AND OTHER ADVENTURES
All sorts of outdoor adventures await the visitor to this area of the world: whitewater rafting, zip line tours over the Nantahala Gorge, rope climbing for kids, mountain biking and even train rides, all with moutaintop views. The recreational opportunities spread across four states, with many adventures available near Franklin.

CIVIL WAR TRAILS – NORTH CAROLINA
Part of a five state trail program, the North Carolina Civil War Trails maps and guides provide information about over 200 places in North Carolina impacted by the War. Each site is interpreted and accessible. This scenic and historic tour are driving tours to be explored at your own pace.
