American Ancestors by New England Historic Genealogical Society:  Meet in the hotel lobby at 9:45 am (subject to the train schedule). Bring your genealogy research notes and your laptop.

We have a reservation with the NEHGS at 12:00 noon for an orientation with a representative of the NEHGS.  They will provide information on using their resources, the layout of the building and will provide answers to any questions you may have.  If you are a member it is free.  The cost of a day pass is $15.00 which you will pay at the NEHGS.  NEHGS is open until 9:00 pm on Wednesday.  You will have a full day of research if you choose to stay after the orientation. Prepare for your research visit to the NEHGS by visiting their web site at americanancestors.org

To get to the NEHGS from the hotel, we will use the hotel's shuttle to transfer to the commuter rail station in Wakefield. We will take the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority's (MBTA) Haverhill Line commuter train to Boston’s North Station, a 20-25 minute ride. The cost of the train is $6.75 each way (not included in your registration).  

From there we will take the Subway's Green Line “inbound” to Copley Station. The cost of the subway is $2.25 each way (not included in your registration).

When we exit the subway station, we will be at the intersection of Boylston and Dartmouth Streets. We walk one block east on Boylston Street past Copley Square and Trinity Church, to Clarendon Street. After crossing Clarendon, we turn left and walk one block to Newbury Street. Cross Newbury and turn right to find the entrance to NEHGS at 99 Newbury Street.

Poindexter Hospitality Room is open in the Concierge Room on the second floor of the hotel.  This is the home-base of the Poindexter Family Reunion, Thursday through Sunday morning. The Poindexter Room is where we can gather to socialize and share our family histories and memorabilia. The room may be closed at times during the day for meals and other breaks. 

Registration will be open at 8:00 am in the Poindexter Hospitality Room so you can pick up your name badge before 8:45 am if you registered for the Boston tour. Registration will also be open during select times during the day.

Old Town Hop-On/Hop-Off Trolley Tour of Boston:  Meet in the lobby of the hotel.  At this time, you will receive your Trolley tickets, a train schedule, and lunch recommendations. Plan your day by learning where the Trolley stops are ahead of time at trolleytours.com/boston/map

From the lobby, we will use the hotel's shuttle to transfer to the commuter rail station in Wakefield. Hop on the Trolley, Stop #4 is just outside of North Station on Causeway Street.  Explore and enjoy your day in Boston as you choose what sites to visit.  Some highlights along the way will include Faneuil Hall, the Historic North End, the Freedom Trail, USS Constitution, Boston Tea Party and Beacon Hill/State House.

When finished with your day in Boston, you can make your way back to North Station to catch a train back to Wakefield.  You will be provided information on the return train schedule when we meet in the hotel lobby.

Lunch and drinks are on your own.  You also have the option of enjoying dinner or other events in Boston that evening as the train and subway run until midnight.

Dinner:  Meet in the hotel lobby for dinner (Dutch treat) at a Lynnfield Market restaurant.  We can walk, car pool or take the hotel shuttle as we are able.

MattesonTour of Salem: Meet in the hotel lobby to check-in for the tour and board our bus.  The bus will leave the hotel for Salem by 9:30 AM.  In Salem, our expert guide will point out and discuss many important sites in Salem. We will break for two hours for lunch.  Lunch is on your own, recommendations will be made. 

After lunch we will visit a local museum, admission is included with your registration. We will depart Salem at 3:30 PM to return to the hotel.

Salem was the seat of early government of the Massachusetts Bay Colony.  The city has a rich maritime history and is where Nathaniel Hawthorne wrote some of his novels.  However, Salem is most well-known for the witch hysteria and the witch trials of the late 17th century.  The Poingdestre connection with Ann Greenslit Pudeator and the witch trials will be discussed. Dinner at Red's Kitchen and Restaurant in Peabody (Dutch treat).  Meet in the hotel lobby to organize car pools.  If you have a car and can provide a ride, please bring it to the lobby entrance of the parking lot. 

Red’s Kitchen and Tavern, established in 1945, is on Route 1, 131 Newbury Street, in Peabody, Massachusetts. The restaurant is about a 10-15 minute drive from the hotel. See the menu at redskitchenandtavern.com

Professional Group Photos: Meet in the hotel lobby for the group photo.  Please no personal cell phone or camera photos allowed during the professional photographer’s shoot.  There will be opportunity for small family group photos after the full group is completed. Prices will be available during the photo shoot to order your copies.

Poindexter Family Banquet:  In the Franklin Room on the lower level of the hotel.  The buffet dinner will include salad, clam chowder, baked haddock, chicken Marsala, mashed potatoes and vegetables.  There will be a cash bar available.  More details to follow.
