Thursday, June 11, free time during the day to explore local attractions. We will come together for dinner, meeting in the hotel lobby to carpool to the Mad Italian Restaurant, less than a 10-minute drive at 2089 Savoy Drive in Chamblee, Georgia. Dinner is Dutch treat, meaning participants will order from the menu and pay for their own meals.
After dinner, the PDA Board of Directors will meet at the hotel. All are welcome to attend.
Friday, June 12:
After breakfast, our bus tour ($55 per person) will visit the Atlanta History Center (including the famous Cyclorama, the moving depiction of the 1864 Battle of Atlanta), and then lunch at The Varsity Restaurant (included in tour cost). After lunch, the tour continues to the Margaret Mitchell House where “Gone with the Wind” was written. John Wade will be our tour guide, pointing out points of interest along the way. After the Mitchell home, we will return to the hotel.
Dinner this evening will be catered in the hotel by Moe’s Southwest Grill. Use the Registration Form to sign up.
After dinner, John Wade will give a short presentation on Senator Miles Poindexter (1868-1946) who is a member of John’s family tree. John will also talk about James Lafayette Poindexter (1859-1938) who was a bailiff and jailer in Atlanta.
Saturday, June 13:
Another full day of fun and activities is planned for our last full day together.
Annual PDA Members Meeting will be held in the morning after breakfast. Time is to be announced.
A visit to the Jimmy Carter Presidential Library and Museum, is planned. We will meet in the lobby after the annual meeting to car pool to the museum (about a half hour drive via interstate). Sign up for the Carter Museum visit on the Reunion Registration Form but you will pay your admission at the entrance ($12 adults, $10 seniors and vets, and under 16 free).
During the afternoon, hang out in the Poindexter Room and visit with our cousins, or visit the Perimeter Mall.
The taking of the traditional group photo will take place prior to the Banquet. Time and place to be announced. The group photo will be available for purchase on a thumb drive ($10). Order using the Reunion Registration Form.
The evening Banquet is our grand event to close the Reunion. Dinner will be a buffet with potato salad, tossed salad, sliced sirloin of beef with mushroom sauce, BBQ sliced pork loin, mashed potatoes, green beans, berry cobbler, and key lime pie. There will be raffle tickets sold for the door prizes. The banquet cost is $50. Children aged 5-10 years cost is $30. Children 4 and under eat free. Use the Reunion Registration Form to sign up.
Sunday, June 14:
Join everyone Sunday morning in the breakfast room one last time as we say farewell to all our cousins who attended this year's Reunion.
