Before the Reunion:   Come to Williamsburg a few days early.   There is so much to do in the area that the only trouble you will have is trying to decide what to see first.   Tickets to Colonial Williamsburg are discounted for hotel guests.   We have a vetted list of area restaurants for you.

Tickets are $16 per hotel guest, buy them at the hotel concierge desk and ask about tickets to additional activities, museums and sites in the area.   Your admission ticket is your key to interpreter-guided Colonial Williamsburg historic sites, trades, gardens, staged performances, as well as access to the newly expanded and updated Art Museums of Colonial Williamsburg.

There are two research libraries in Williamsburg, the Earl Gregg Swem Library at the College of William & Mary, and the John D. Rockefeller Jr. Library of Colonial Williamsburg.   If you have colonial or early Virginia genealogy in addition to the Poindexter family, you might want to visit these libraries. Today is a great day to arrive early and do your research.  Follow the links for more information about each of these institutions.

Moss SideThis is the day that features the old home places of the Poindexter family in New Kent County, Virginia.   See the land, smell the air, and experience the places our ancestors knew, as John B. Poindexter and Mary and Van Townsend tell us about history and land ownership in the area.

Upon arrival, BBQ lunch will be served at Moss Side, built about 1865 on land that had been owned by the Poindexters and descendants.

Following the lunch we will learn more about Moss Side, then board our coaches and visit some of the homes built or owned by the Poindexter family of the 18th and 19th centuries.

CumberlandAt the end of the afternoon, we will visit Cumberland Estate for group photos and a Mexican Fiesta, our last dinner together.   Cumberland is the current Virginia home of PDA member John B. Poindexter.   Cumberland overlooks the Pamunkey River, at a site most certainly known to George Poindexter over 300 years ago.  At that time Cumberland was a thriving community and port for trading.   Early Poindexters could have shipped their tobacco and other products from here.

This will be a day filled with unforgettable experiences relating to our Poindexter family history.   We will return to the hotel after the banquet where you will probably want to crash, straight to bed.

NOTE: This year there will NOT be a gift exchange, so do not bring a gift.

Bruton Parish Church8:30am - Service at Bruton Parish Church:  (Time subject to change)   Meet in the lobby to car pool to Bruton Parish Church.   Parking is available adjacent to the church.   Service is scheduled to start at 9:15am.

The Church was established in 1674 and is where immigrant George Poindexter served as a vestryman.   Bruton Parish Church is in the Historic Area of Colonial Williamsburg (Historic Area Pass is not required).   The plaque commemorating the first vestrymen of the parish is on the wall inside of the Church. This should give us ample time to view the plaque, that displays George Poyndexter’s name, before the service begins.

11:00am - Time to check out of the hotel. Say goodbyes in the lobby. Depart for home.
