Family History Research

Founded by amateur family genealogists in 1982, members have continued to be interested in family history. The Family History Research Committee is the umbrella that encompases many facets of the PDA's genealogical activities today.

Areas of research

  • Genetic Genealogy through our Poindexter DNA Project
  • Research at Courthouses, Libraries, Churches, Archives
  • Research in locations, such as Jersey, England, France, Canada, and the USA
  • Online resources, including Ancestry, FamilySearch, WikiTree, GeneaNet, Facebook, etc.
  • Review lineages of new members
  • Respond to inquiries from members and the public
  • Manage the PDA Genealogy Database

PDA research archives available in the Members Area

  • Repository of papers and research materials contributed by members at the Virginia Museum of History and Culture. This is available to the public at the museum's library in Richmond, Virginia.
  • Genealogy Database where members can access the research contributed by members over the years
  • Research reports given at Reunions and published in the PDA Newsletter
  • Archive of parish records of St. Saviour in the Isle of Jersey
  • Family Trees of the Poingdestre family in Jersey from 1300-1998
