Sidney Wayne Poindexter Scholarship

Photo of Sydney PoindexterThis Scholarship honors the memory of Sidney Wayne Poindexter (September 29, 1943 – October 10, 2022). Sidney was a devoted uncle who absolutely adored his nieces and nephews and enjoyed seeing and visiting with them. Sidney was an American Patriot and had an incredible memory for American history. He loved Civil War and American Revolutionary history, but also World War II history. Sidney possessed an extraordinary ability to recall historical facts and biographies of military officers. Given the name of an Army officer, Sidney could recite the history of that officer, including date of birth, how they served and what they were known for in history. Sidney shared his memory of history with his nieces and nephews, and was amazed as well with the Poindexter history once he was exposed to that information.
