Planning Your Airline Schedules

Registering only for the Jersey Tour

You should plan your flights to arrive at the Jersey Airport (JER) on the afternoon of Wednesday, May 14, 2025. This means that if you are departing from the U.S., you will need to book a flight that departs on the evening of Tuesday, May 13, 2025.

  • Flying to London round trip:
    • Generally, your best option for getting to Jersey from the U.S. is to fly into and out of either London Heathrow (LHR) or London Gatwick (LGW). Most airlines serving U.S. international airports have flights to one, but not both LHR and LGW.
    • Book your flight to London so that you arrive in England before 8am on the morning of May 14, 2025.
    • Book your return flight back home from London no earlier than 11am on May 21, 2025.

Registering for both the Jersey and Normandy Tours

  • Flying to London one way:
    • Generally, your best option for getting to Jersey from the U.S. is to fly into and out of either London Heathrow (LHR) or London Gatwick (LGW). Most airlines serving U.S. international airports have flights to one, but not both LHR and LGW.
    • Book your flight to London so that you arrive in England before 8am on the morning of May 14, 2025.
  • Flying from London to Jersey one way:
    • Book your flight from London to Jersey so that you depart London between 11am and 1:00pm on May 14, 2025.
  • Flying from Paris to home:

    • Note: For those going to Normandy, consider purchasing an “Open Jaws” ticket. In essence, this is a round-trip ticket which can include different cities for arrivals and departures. (See your travel agent regarding the pros and cons of this type of booking.)

Departing from Jersey

  • If you are NOT going to Normandy, at 5am on Wednesday, May 21, 2025 you will be taken by shuttle bus from our hotel to the Jersey Airport.  This early departure allows you to book the first flight of the day out of Jersey. These flights will go to either LHR or LGW and leave Jersey around 7am. This first flights of the day will likely be a full flights and usually takes about 60-70 minutes.
  • If you ARE going to Normandy, then around mid-morning you will be taken by shuttle bus from our hotel to the Jersey Ferry Dock.  The ferry schedule depends on the tides, so the exact schedule has not been published by the ferry company yet.

Things to Consider When Booking Your Flights

  • You will need time after you land in London to check through the airport’s passport control (immigration), customs, and probably a change of terminals. If in doubt, book more time between your flights rather than less. Arrival delays, ground transportation options, unfamiliar protocols, and needing to get something to eat, could all affect your timing.  We suggest to schedule at least three hours between flights in London.
  • When you fly back and forth between London and Jersey, you will be on domestic flights.  You will not need to go through customs or passport control upon your arrival in Jersey or return to London.
  • Flights between the London airports and the Jersey airport are typically about a little more than an hour from gate to gate.
  • It could be possible for you to check your bags from your U.S. point of origin straight through to Jersey (JER). This depends on your chosen airline and its partners, but it is by far the better option to not retreive your luggage, transfer terminals, and recheck your bags.
  • If you are planning to visit other places in Europe before the start of the Jersey tour, you will still have to make your travel plans so that you arrive at the Jersey airport by the early afternoon of Wednesday, May 14, 2025.

Additional Tips

  • After landing in Jersey, you will get off the plane outside onto the tarmac, using steps or a ramp.  Enter the terminal, collect your bags, then follow the Exit sign to pass through the doors out of the secured areas to the public area of the terminal. There, one of us will welcome you to Jersey and usher you onto a shuttle to the hotel.
  • Finally, before you even leave home, you will need to provide us with a copy of your flight itinerary so we know when to expect you and to better coordinate our ground transportation to the tour’s hotel.  It will be about a half hour ride between the airport and the hotel depending on traffic.
  • After arrival at the hotel, there should be some time to rest and freshen up before dinner.  We will then have our first dinner together at the hotel’s restaurant.
